Multiple mediastinal lymph nodes are usually caused by metastasis of malignant tumors. Whether surgery is possible or not should be determined according to the stage of cancer and the overall condition of the patient, and if the patient has distant metastasis or has poor systemic condition, then surgery cannot be performed.
1. Identify the cause of the disease: It should be timely to find out what causes the multiple mediastinal lymph nodes, such as lung cancer, breast cancer, thyroid cancer, etc. Primary tumors are found in the tissues around the mediastinal lymph nodes or metastasis from distant places.
2. Staging and patient’s own condition: if the primary tumor is around, surgical resection can be taken; if the primary tumor is far away from the mediastinal lymph nodes, distant metastasis should be considered, and then surgery is not suitable and radiotherapy should be carried out to slow down the development of the disease.
A few mediastinal lymph nodes may also be caused by inflammation, which does not require surgical treatment. It is recommended that the patient should seek medical treatment in time, so that the specialist can make a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s own situation and make a reasonable treatment plan.
