This year, May 1 is the 14th World Asthma Day. The reason for launching World Asthma Day is that the world should pay attention to asthma because the incidence of asthma is increasing year by year, which adds a great burden to families and society. Although the incidence of asthma is increasing, we still have effective ways to control asthma. That’s why the slogan of this year’s World Asthma Day is “Asthma can be controlled”. Asthma can be controlled is based on standardized asthma treatment, i.e., diagnosis and evaluation, stepwise treatment regimen, regular assessment and adjustment, and avoidance of allergens. Initial treatment is based on inhaled hormones combined with long-acting beta2 agonists, with at least 3 months of evaluation and adjustment, and later treatment is based on inhaled low-dose hormones. Asthma is characterized by an inflammatory response in the bronchial mucosa, and this inflammation still exists when wheezing is relieved, and an asthma attack will occur if treatment is not continued with medication, which is why treatment should still be adhered to even if asymptomatic. Staying away from allergens is a prerequisite for treatment and the basis for ensuring the efficacy of medication.
