After a patient has a patellar fracture and treatment is surgical, most patients will experience postoperative adhesions in the knee joint area, which can affect knee flexion and extension. Early knee exercises should be performed without affecting fracture healing. Specific exercises can be performed by telling the patient to assume a prone position, relax, and flex the knee as much as possible on the affected limb, bringing the heel closer to the hip, for 10-15 seconds. You can also tell the patient to take a standing position with the palms of both feet fully on the ground, flexing the hip, knee and ankle joints, and squatting with the patient’s hips as far down as possible. The exercise can effectively relieve adhesions in the knee joint area and can increase the range of motion of the knee joint.
