What does a high white blood cell with normal c-reactive protein mean

A high white blood cell count with normal C-reactive protein can be due to physiologic factors, but may also indicate the presence of bacterial infections, blood disorders, and acute toxicity and other pathologic factors.
1. Physiological factors: strenuous exercise, after a full meal, and in the late stages of pregnancy, there may be a high white blood cell count and so on, and generally do not need to be dealt with.
2. Pathological factors: white blood cells and C-reactive protein are important indicators for determining inflammatory reactions, C-reactive protein is a special protein with high sensitivity and low specificity in case of stress, and an increase in C-reactive protein may be a result of stress in the body, which may be combined with an infection, or it may not be an infection or occur for other reasons.
In cases where C-reactive protein is normal but the white blood cell count is elevated, the possibility of a bacterial infection still needs to be considered.
Patients with hematologic disorders usually have a markedly elevated white blood cell count, but C-reactive protein is not always elevated.
Diabetic ketoacidosis, uremia, snakebites, valium, etc. may cause elevated white blood cell counts.
Due to the many factors affecting the condition, the specific situation requires a doctor’s consultation and analysis based on other clinical manifestations as well as laboratory test results.
