General gastroscopy requires an electrocardiogram (ECG), which is done before the test to check if the patient has a heart condition.
As the examination is performed by using a cannula gastroscope, when the cannula enters the stomach, it may cause problems such as abnormal heart rate, heart discomfort, and cardiac lesions, etc. Therefore, an electrocardiogram before the general gastroscopy can facilitate the doctor’s observation of the patient’s heart and whether it meets the criteria for the general gastroscopy.
Ordinary gastroscopy is to enter into the stomach through the intubated gastroscope, which can check whether there are lesions in the stomach, esophagus, duodenum and so on, and help the doctor make a diagnosis of the patient’s disease more accurately.
It is recommended that patients fast for 8 hours or more before undergoing a general gastroscopy to avoid eating affecting the results of the examination or vomiting during the examination, which may lead to lung infections, choking, and so on.
