Mugwort leaves are the dried leaves of the plant Mugwort in the family of Asteraceae, with pungent, bitter flavor, warm nature, and a small poison. It belongs to the liver, spleen and kidney meridians. It has the effect of warming menstruation and stopping bleeding, dispersing cold and relieving pain. Externally, it has the effect of dispelling dampness and relieving itching.
Clinically, it can be used in the treatment of hematemesis, epistaxis (external bleeding from certain parts of the body that is not caused by trauma), metrorrhagia (excessive menstrual flow or dripping), excessive menstruation, fetal leakage (small amount of bleeding from the vagina in the early stage of pregnancy), hypostasis, cold pain in the abdomen, irregular menstruation, and cold uterus and infertility. Externally, it can be used to treat itchy skin.
Mugwort leaves can be decocted and taken internally or added into pills, powder or pounded juice. Externally, it can be pounded into cones or made into moxa sticks for smoking and moxibustion, pounded into compresses, decocted into water for fumigation, or fried and warmed with hot iron.
When using this product, it should be reasonably applied under the identification of professional Chinese medicine practitioners, do not self-medication, so as not to cause discomfort.
