What is maxillary sinus cancer

Maxillary sinus cancer mainly refers to an epithelial-derived malignant tumor occurring in the mucosa of maxillary sinus, which is often manifested as squamous cell carcinoma in clinical practice. Most of them are invaded by squamous cell carcinoma of oral mucosa, and some of them may be metastasis of distant primary carcinoma to jaw bone, and true primary carcinoma of jaw bone is malignantly formed by remaining hyperplasia of odontogenic epithelium in jaw bone. In addition, it can also be formed by the transformation of enamel-forming cell tumor, especially the malignant transformation of squamous cell-like enamel-forming cell tumor. Then there are intra-maxillary odontogenic cysts formed by malignant transformation of overlying epithelial hyperplasia. Maxillary sinus cancer may have different degrees of nasal bleeding, eye displacement, diplopia, difficulty in opening mouth, loose teeth, pain and other symptoms.
