Newborns struggling to hold their breath and spitting up frequently are considered to be caused by physiological factors, and may also be caused by pathological factors, such as intussusception or meningitis. 1. Physiological factors: Because the newborn’s stomach is horizontal, the cardia sphincter is still immature, gastrointestinal peristalsis is relatively weak, when a short period of time to eat too much milk, it is easy to struggle, hold their breath and spit up frequently and other symptoms. 2. Pathologic factors: (1) intussusception: due to strenuous exercise or viral infection immediately after feeding, the newborn intussusception appears, showing the above symptoms, and may be accompanied by obvious abdominal pain, abdominal distension and other discomforts. (2) Meningitis: Due to suppurative bacterial or viral infection, resulting in diffuse inflammatory changes in the soft meninges, newborns show the above symptoms, accompanied by persistent high fever and other discomforts. Parents are advised to strengthen the daily care of their newborns and consult the doctor when abnormalities are detected to avoid delaying the condition.
