What’s wrong with children with swollen eyes and lots of boogers?

Children with swollen eyes and a lot of eye droppings may be due to conjunctivitis, dacryoadenitis, inverted eyelashes and other causes.
1. Conjunctivitis: When children’s conjunctiva suffers from bacteria, viruses, physical stimulation, chemical damage, it may cause inflammatory reaction of conjunctival tissues, which is mainly manifested as eyelid swelling, foreign body sensation, burning sensation, and increase in ocular secretion and other symptoms.
2. Dacryoadenitis: Dacryoadenitis is a common eye disease that occurs in children and adolescents. It is an inflammation caused by the blockage of the lacrimal gland. When the localized pus accumulates to a certain extent, it will overflow from the tear ducts, resulting in symptoms of swollen eyes and a lot of eye droppings.
3. Inverted eyelashes: Inverted eyelashes are children’s eyelashes that grow backward so that they touch the cornea and the eyeball. Repeated irritation can easily cause inflammation and secondary infection, resulting in swollen eyes and a lot of eye droppings.
Therefore, when the child’s eyes are swollen and a lot of eye droppings, parents should take the child to the regular hospital in a timely manner, to determine the cause of the disease and choose targeted treatment.
