Chinese herbal remedies for bile reflux gastritis include Huanglian Warm Bile Soup, Xiao Chaihu Soup, and Da Chaihu Soup. Huang Lian Wen Bile Tang is composed of Huang Lian, Han Xia, Chen Pi, Poria, Licorice, Ginger, Bamboo Root, and Citrus Aurantium. It functions to clear heat and resolve phlegm. It treats insomnia, dizziness, heartburn, bitter mouth and yellowish tongue caused by internal disturbance of phlegm-heat. Xiao Chai Hu Tang, with the efficacy of reconciling Shaoyang (treating exogenous fever with evil between half-expression and half-li). It is used for treating shao-yang (one of the six meridians of typhoid fever, which is between the surface and the inside) syndrome of typhoid fever, with symptoms of cold and fever, bitter fullness in the chest (feeling fullness and discomfort in the front and sides of the chest), silent appetite for food and drink, upset and nausea, bitter taste in the mouth, dryness of the throat, dizziness, etc. It is contraindicated in patients with deficiency of yin and blood.
