Effects of Omeprazole

Omeprazole has the effect of inhibiting the secretion of gastric acid and reducing the acidity in the stomach, and is commonly used to relieve acid reflux, heartburn, epigastric pain and discomfort, and other gastric acid-related symptoms. Omeprazole belongs to proton pump inhibitors, which mainly inhibit gastric acid secretion, so it has good therapeutic effects on all acid-related diseases. Common acid-related diseases mainly include reflux esophagitis, erosive gastritis, and peptic ulcer (gastric and duodenal ulcer). Omeprazole can improve the symptoms of epigastric pain and acid reflux, and can also promote the healing of mucosal ulcers and erosions. In addition, omeprazole can improve the therapeutic effect of antibiotics against Helicobacter pylori by reducing the acidity in the stomach. It is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to omeprazole and other azoles, and in patients with severe hepatic or renal insufficiency; it is used with caution in children, pregnant and lactating women, the elderly, and patients with impaired hepatic or renal function. Omeprazole should be used under the supervision of a doctor and should not be taken without authorization.
