Can hepatocellular carcinoma be completely cured?

Hepatocellular carcinoma is a kind of malignant tumor, and its clinical cure means no recurrence of the tumor within 5 years, with a 20% chance of cure in early stage and generally incurable in middle and late stage. When hepatocellular carcinoma in early stage does not have intrahepatic, vascular and lymphatic metastasis, there is a probability of about 20% to achieve no recurrence within 5 years, i.e. to achieve clinical cure, through complete surgical resection of the tumor and taking chemotherapy and other methods after surgery. If the tumor is found late, it has already reached the progressive and advanced stage of liver cancer, with vascular and lymphatic metastasis, and the tumor has spread. At this time, even if the tumor is surgically resected, it cannot be completely cured. However, radiotherapy or targeted therapy can be used to improve the quality of life and survival time of patients. It is recommended that patients diagnosed with liver cancer should go to regular hospitals to evaluate their conditions and follow the doctor’s instructions to cooperate with the treatment, so as to control the progress of the disease and improve the prognosis of the patients.
