What does it mean to be positive for uterine fibroids?

The so-called positive uterine fibroids usually refers to the presence of fibroids on the uterus after a woman’s ultrasound examination. Uterine fibroids are common benign gynecological tumors that are actually composed of smooth muscle and connective tissue. Generally small fibroids, the patient may not have special discomfort symptoms, neither lower abdominal pain, nor menstrual disorders, mostly in the normal physical examination when found. However, larger fibroids may cause increased menstrual flow and prolonged menstrual periods, and submucosal fibroids may also affect women’s fertility.
