What are the herbal remedies for enlarged nasal turbinates?

Different medications can be chosen for the treatment of turbinate hypertrophy according to the different types of symptoms. Scutellaria Tang, Jade Screen Fung San, and Tongjiao Xiexue Tang can be used for the treatment of turbinate hypertrophy. Nasal turbinate hypertrophy belongs to the category of “nasal obstruction” in Chinese medicine, and its pathology is related to the dysfunction of the lungs and the spleen, as well as qi stagnation and blood stasis (blood stagnation due to the lack of qi flow). The adverse effects and contraindications of this drug are not clear. For those with Qi stagnation and blood stasis, the main manifestations are severe or unabated nasal congestion, heavy speech, loss of sense of smell, enlarged and hard nasal turbinates with mulberry-like uneven surface, head swelling and headache, and closed ears and hard hearing. The treatment of this drug is Tongjiao Xiexue Tang, which is used to activate the flow of Qi and blood (to promote the flow of gases to make the blood circulate), and to resolve blood stasis and open up the orifices. Adverse effects and contraindications of the drug are not known.
