What to do about neck pain

There are many causes of neck pain, such as subacute thyroiditis, cervical lymphadenitis, thyroid cancer, etc. Different diseases are treated in different ways, including symptomatic treatment, conservative treatment, surgical treatment and so on. 1. Subacute thyroiditis: Subacute thyroiditis is mostly secondary to viral infections of the upper respiratory tract. Most patients only need to use some non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen, etc.; moderate to severe patients need to use glucocorticoids for a short period of time. Presence of thyrotoxicosis can use propranolol. It is recommended to choose drugs under the guidance of a professional doctor. 2. Cervical lymphadenitis: Cervical lymphadenitis is mostly caused by the spread of infections in neighboring areas, such as gingivitis, oral mucositis, tonsillitis and so on. The treatment mainly focuses on the primary foci of infection for anti-infection treatment, commonly used drugs are cephalosporin, metronidazole and so on. Generally, the lymphadenitis can subside by itself after the primary lesion is controlled. 3. Thyroid cancer: when thyroid cancer increases to a certain degree, it can cause cervical nerve plexus compression and neck pain, and the treatment mainly focuses on radical surgery, supplemented by chemotherapy, radiotherapy and targeted therapy. In addition to the above diseases, cervical spondylosis, neck muscle strain, neck tumors and other diseases can cause neck pain, and it is recommended that patients go to the hospital as soon as possible, so as to clarify the cause of the disease as soon as possible and then give targeted treatment.
