Strabismus refers to the inability of the patient to focus both eyes on an object at the same time. Factors causing strabismus include heredity, craniocerebral trauma, refractive error and so on.
1. Heredity: congenital strabismus is mostly related to genetic defects, chromosomal abnormalities and other hereditary factors. It is a congenital disease, and strabismus, i.e., deviation of the eye position, can occur in children at birth or within 6 months after birth.
2. Craniocerebral trauma: when the patient suffers from external trauma such as craniocerebral impact, the nerves in the cranium can be damaged, and if the nerves innervating the eye muscles are damaged, the patient will also suffer from strabismus.
3. Refractive error: patients with high refractive error may have adjustable strabismus, such as patients with high hyperopia may have adjustable internal strabismus, generally after correcting the refractive error, the patient’s eye position can be restored to normal.
It is recommended that patients with strabismus should consult a doctor in a timely manner to assess their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
