What are the dangers of welding to the eyes

The hazards of welding to the eyes mainly include electro-optical ophthalmia, vision changes, cataracts, conjunctivitis, dry eye, etc., which can damage the patient’s vision.
1. Electro-optical ophthalmitis: workers who often carry out welding are prone to electro-optical ophthalmitis because of corneal epithelial damage, and patients may experience discomfort such as eye congestion, tearing, tingling, photophobia and other symptoms.
2. Cataract: Welding light contains ultraviolet light, if the patient’s eyes are stimulated by ultraviolet light for a long time, it will cause clouding of the lens and lead to cataract.
3. Other: After the patient’s eyes are stimulated by welding light, the risk of conjunctivitis and dry eye can be increased, and the patient may experience blurred vision, photophobia, tearing, foreign body sensation and other uncomfortable symptoms.
Welders should wear protective masks in their daily work to minimize physical damage.
Patients with eye discomfort are advised to seek prompt medical attention to assess their condition and follow medical advice.
