Umbilical cord care for newborns is important

The umbilical cord is the link between the mother and the fetus, and it is responsible for transporting nutrients and excreting waste. After a child is born with the umbilical cord ligated, the umbilical cord stump is left behind, and it is easily contaminated by the child’s urine and stool, leading to umbiliculitis and even sepsis, so how to take care of the umbilical cord stump? First, the umbilical cord should be kept dry. After bathing, you can wipe it clean with a dry and clean cotton swab and then take care of it. Secondly, try to avoid rubbing of the umbilical cord. A diaper of the right size can reduce friction. Again, the umbilical cord should avoid smothering. When taking care of the umbilical cord, we should first wash our hands with soap and water, wipe it twice a day with an iodophor swab. When wiping, lift the small thin cord that ties the umbilical cord with one hand and wipe it with a swab dipped in iodophor with the other hand, and wrap it with sterile gauze. If there is purulent discharge from the umbilical cord, go to the hospital in time.
