What is a stroke?

Stroke, includes ischemic stroke (cerebral infarction) and hemorrhagic stroke (parenchymal hemorrhage, ventricular hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage), a disease of brain cell and tissue necrosis with significant seasonality and a higher incidence during the cold season. According to the World Health Organization definition, stroke refers to damage to cerebral blood vessels from multiple causes and focal (or overall) brain tissue damage that causes clinical symptoms for more than 24 hours or is fatal. It is characterized by high morbidity, disability, recurrence and mortality rates. Stroke is the first cause of death among Chinese residents. Ischemic strokes account for 75%-90% of all strokes and hemorrhagic strokes account for only 10-25%.
