Causes of lumbar disc herniation

The causes of lumbar disc herniation include genetic or congenital developmental abnormality, degenerative changes, trauma, and strain. 1. Hereditary or congenital developmental abnormality: due to genetic or congenital developmental abnormality leading to abnormal stress on lumbar intervertebral discs, patients may have lumbar intervertebral disc herniation at an early age. 2. Degenerative changes: with age, the lumbar spine degenerates, the nucleus pulposus loses its elasticity, the annulus fibrosus becomes fissured, and the nucleus pulposus is prone to protrude backward. 3. External force: it is common for trauma and other violent factors to act on the lumbar spine, directly or indirectly making the lumbar intervertebral disc protrude backward acutely, often accompanied by lumbar spine slippage, fracture and so on. 4. Strain: Accumulated injuries caused by repeated bending, twisting, weight-bearing labor and other actions can lead to lumbar disc herniation. Herniated lumbar intervertebral discs may also be related to pregnancy, and it is recommended that patients go to the hospital in time for early and regular treatment.
