What is the cause of frequent eye tears?

Many people in life will have tears in the wind, tears without time, and tears when there is no sadness and no stimulation of the eyes. The specific reasons may be related to the following factors: 1. Tearing is one of the main symptoms of lacrimal disease. Tear apparatus diseases include lacrimal gland diseases and tear duct diseases. Whether it is a problem with the lacrimal gland, which is responsible for the secretion of tears, or with the lacrimal duct, which is responsible for the flow of tears, it can lead to lacrimation. There are two reasons for this: one is obstruction of drainage, where the tears cannot flow into the nasal cavity and spill out of the eyelids, called overflow. The second is excessive secretion of tears, and the tear duct does not have enough time to drain into the nasal cavity, but flows out of the eyelid, which is called lacrimation. One of the lacrimal gland diseases is less common in clinical practice, mainly inflammation and tumor. The more common lacrimal disease is mainly tear duct narrowing or blockage. For example, nasolacrimal duct obstruction due to inflammatory infection, acute and chronic dacryocystitis, etc. can cause blockage and narrowing of the tear duct causing obstruction of tear drainage, and show frequent tearing of the eyes. 2, foreign body irritating gas, cold, heat, bright light can cause reflex tearing through the trigeminal nerve. 3, drug reactions such as neostigmine, organophosphorus pesticides and other chemicals caused by drug-related lacrimation. 4, excessive mental excitement such as hysteria caused by central reflex lacrimation. 5, some systemic diseases such as conjunctival congestion and early hyperthyroidism also have symptoms of lacrimation. 6, Chinese medicine believes that the wind flowing tears and no time tears are mostly due to old age and weakness, liver and kidney deficiency, essence and blood loss. The treatment for frequent tearing includes tear duct flushing, tear duct probing, tear spot dilation and laser treatment. Different treatments have to be chosen according to the specific situation. Frequent tearing of the eyes can lead to chronic irritant conjunctivitis and eczematous dermatitis if left untreated, so it is recommended to seek medical treatment for this symptom in time.
