How long can you live after chemotherapy for gastric cancer?

Survival time after chemotherapy for gastric cancer is related to patient’s cancer stage, whether to operate or not, individual condition, psychological tolerance and other aspects, which cannot be generalized. Gastric cancer originates from the mucosal layer of the stomach wall and is one of the common tumors in the gastrointestinal tract. Early gastric cancer is limited to the mucosal layer or submucosal layer, and the 5-year survival rate is about 50% through radical surgery, supplemented with radiotherapy after surgery. In progressive gastric cancer, the tumor invades the plasma membrane layer or breaks through the plasma membrane to invade neighboring organs, and even distant metastases have appeared. At this time, most patients cannot undergo radical surgery and only combine with radiotherapy or palliative treatment, and the 5-year survival rate of patients is not ideal, about 0%-20%, with poor prognosis. Especially for patients with liver metastasis, lung metastasis, brain metastasis and peritoneal metastasis, the survival rate is almost zero. Stomach cancer is important to early detection and early treatment, and it is recommended to insist on annual gastroscopy after the age of 35. In daily life, we should pay attention to dietary hygiene and not to eat too much spicy and stimulating food.
