Does knee effusion go away on its own?

Knee effusion refers to the accumulation of fluid in the knee joint. Whether or not it will go away on its own cannot be generalized and should be determined by a doctor based on the amount of fluid. If a small amount of knee fluid is present and there is no obvious discomfort, the symptoms may disappear on their own with attention to daily care. However, for moderate to severe knee effusion, accompanied by redness, swelling and pain in the knee, it usually does not go away automatically and needs to be treated with a combination of Chinese medicine, physical therapy and anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving drugs under the guidance of a doctor. During the treatment period, it is necessary to follow medical advice and not to use drugs on your own to avoid side effects. If necessary, a knee aspiration may be required to remove the fluid. Timely and proper treatment will help to promote the disappearance of the effusion and provide better clinical results. During the treatment period, patients with knee effusion should pay attention to keeping the affected area warm, avoiding cold and moisture, avoiding overexertion, and not performing heavy work or walking for a long time.
