What is hyperandrogenemia

Hyperandrogenemia refers to a condition due to excessive secretion of testosterone from the ovaries and adrenal cortex in women, also known clinically as hypertestosteronism. The normal serum testosterone in women is generally below 0.68ng/L. If the serum testosterone exceeds 0.7ng/L, hyperandrogenemia can be diagnosed, resulting in excessive hair growth, male characteristics, scanty menstruation or amenorrhea, and the secretion of follicle-producing hormone is directly inhibited by high serum androgens, which eventually leads to infertility, thus hyperandrogenemia is one of the diseases that seriously endanger women’s health. The clinical treatment of hyperandrogenemia often uses drugs such as androstadienone and corticosteroids to inhibit androgen secretion, and attention should be paid to avoiding foods containing excessive androgens. The consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables and adequate sleep are effective in the treatment of hyperandrogenemia. The consumption of soybean milk and other soybean products can promote the secretion of estrogen and thus antagonize the secretion of androgens.
