What’s with the goose bumps on your neck?

Goosebumps on the neck may have physiological causes or pathological causes, such as perifollicular keratosis, small spiny moss and so on. 1. Physiological reasons: when the skin on the neck feels cold and other stimuli, the erector spinae muscle under each sweat hair will contract, and a small bump will appear on the surface of the skin, at the same time, the sweat hairs on it will stand up, forming a layer of small bumps like chicken skin. 2. Pathologic causes: (1) Perifollicular keratosis: it may be related to autosomal dominant inheritance, vitamin A deficiency, endocrine factors and so on. Follicular keratin plugs or keratinized papules consistent with pores, accompanied by varying degrees of perifollicular erythema, the skin has a chicken skin-like appearance. (2) Microscleroderma: Most common in children on the neck, with dense follicular papules with short filiform keratinized protrusions at the tips and distinct borders, often occurring on the neck, thighs and buttocks. Most patients can recover naturally after a few months.
