Eating stuck in the nasal passages is usually the result of food being inhaled through the posterior nostrils. Depending on where it is stuck, it can often be blown out by using foreign body forceps, suction, or blowing the nose forcefully. The most common areas of entrapment are the nasopharynx, the posterior part of the nasal cavity and the anterior part of the nasal cavity. 1. Nasopharynx: If a foreign body such as a fishbone gets stuck in the nasopharynx by choking while eating, the fishbone is mostly embedded in the nasopharynx and needs to be removed under an electronic nasopharyngoscope using a foreign body forceps. 2. Posterior nasal cavity: If you choke on food such as rice grains to the posterior nasal cavity when eating, you can use anterior rhinoscopy or electronic nasopharyngoscope to check the specific location of the foreign body and use suction and other instruments to take it out. Be careful not to bring the foreign body back to the throat by snorting, as this may cause the foreign body to be choked into the trachea. 3. Anterior nasal passages: If food is stuck in the anterior nasal passages when eating, you can hold down one nostril and blow the opposite side of the nose to blow the foreign body out of the anterior nostril with the impact of airflow. Once the above situation occurs, it is recommended to consult the hospital as soon as possible, and be operated and treated by professional doctors.
