Elevate the affected limb, give ice for local icing as soon as possible, if possible, take elastic bandage or brace or cast for ankle fixation, the time of fixation is determined according to the degree of sprain, for mild sprain, fixing with elastic bandage for about two weeks, you can resume walking on the ground; for moderate sprain, there may be partial tear of ligament, it is better to give brace or cast for about three weeks of fixation; for severe sprain, there is complete rupture of ligament, it is better to give strict fixation for more than four weeks. In severe injuries, the ligaments may be completely torn, and it is best to immobilize them in a cast for more than four weeks. During the immobilization period, use crutches to get down to the ground and avoid stepping on the affected limb, and take oral anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs and swelling medications.
