Must I not drink alcohol to prevent lack of blood supply to the heart and brain?

Excessive alcohol consumption can cause high blood pressure, a hypercoagulable state of the blood, interference with lipid metabolism, and in patients who have already had a transient ischaemia (TIA), drinking again can cause progression of the condition and eventually lead to a stroke.
Therefore, to prevent stroke, patients with TIA and other poor cerebral blood supply should avoid drinking alcohol.
