Is stage 2a rectal cancer early?

Rectal cancer stage IIA belongs to early stage.

Rectal cancer is a common clinical malignant tumor of the digestive system, and clinically, rectal cancer is staged according to different degrees of cancer cells, while rectal cancer stage IIA belongs to stage II of rectal cancer, in which the cancer cells, at this stage, do not have lymphatic metastasis, hematogenous metastasis, and the scope of the tumor is relatively confined, so it is defined as early stage of rectal cancer.

Patients in stage II rectal cancer are usually treated with surgical resection of the tumor, where the corresponding intact diseased tissue is removed as much as possible to eliminate the cancer cells in the body to the maximum extent. Long-term drug treatment is also needed after surgery to reduce the chance of recurrence and metastasis of cancer cells.

During the treatment period, patients should maintain a positive mindset, eat a light diet and keep the bowels smooth. It is important to go to the hospital for treatment as early as possible to avoid metastasis or recurrence of cancer cells.
