How to treat scoliosis in children

Intervention methods for scoliosis mainly include observation, rehabilitation training, brace intervention and surgical treatment.
1. Clinical observation: mostly used when the Cobb angle is <10°, regular follow-up; pay attention to sitting posture in daily life. 2. Exercise rehabilitation training: mostly used when the Cobb angle is 10°~20°. It can achieve the effect of restoring normal musculoskeletal function and reducing disease injury. Try to avoid or reduce the use of braces and surgical treatment for patients with small scoliosis angle and little risk of progression. General exercise interventions include yoga, balance ball, swimming and jumping rope, etc. Specific exercise interventions should be carried out under the guidance of therapists. 3. Brace intervention: Mostly used when the Cobb angle is 20°~45°. Often, brace treatment needs to be combined with exercise therapy, and brace orthopedics is considered to be the only effective conservative intervention. The aim is to prevent curve progression during the period of risk of curve progression until the patient reaches skeletal maturity, minimizing the need for surgical treatment. The selection and use of braces needs to be guided by the clinician. 4. Surgery: Surgical treatment may be considered when the Cobb angle is >45°.
Prompt hospitalization is recommended for suspected scoliosis.
