What is the difference between meloxicam and celecoxib?

Meloxicam and celecoxib differ in major indications, contraindications and adverse reactions.
1. Indications: Meloxicam is mainly used for short-term symptomatic treatment of osteoarthritis exacerbation, long-term symptomatic treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. In addition to the indications of meloxicam, celecoxib is also indicated for acute pain in adults.
2. Contraindications: Meloxicam is contraindicated in patients with asthma, angioedema or urticaria after taking aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, perioperative pain in coronary artery bypass grafting, active or new gastrointestinal ulcers or perforation, severe hepatic insufficiency, severe renal insufficiency without dialysis.
Celecoxib is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to sulfonamide, patients with asthma, urticaria or other anaphylactic reactions induced by the administration of aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs including other cyclooxygenase-2 specific inhibitors, coronary artery bypass bypass grafting surgery, patients with active gastrointestinal tract ulcers/bloating, and severe heart failure.
3. Adverse reactions: Meloxicam can be seen multi-system adverse reactions, eh anemia, leukopenia and other hematologic manifestations; dizziness, drowsiness, headache and other neurological symptoms; gastric bleeding, flatulence and other digestive symptoms and so on. Celecoxib can be seen hypertension, hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, gastrointestinal bleeding, hyperkalemia and other adverse reactions.
Both Celecoxib and Meloxicam should be used under the guidance of a medical professional and should not be used privately.
