What’s wrong with blinking all the time?

Blinking all the time is most commonly associated with conjunctivitis, especially allergic conjunctivitis, which is usually accompanied by eye itching and other discomfort. Local cold compresses can be applied to relieve allergy symptoms, and topical anti-allergy eye drops, such as weak hormonal eye drops, or immunosuppressive eye drops, should be applied. In severe cases of allergy, a combination of systemic anti-allergy medication is needed. People with dry eyes will relieve dry eyes and other discomfort by frequent blinking and transient eyes. Topical drops of preservative-free artificial tears and hot compresses can be used for symptomatic treatment. In patients with impingement, the inverted eyelashes repeatedly irritate the surface of the eye, causing frequent blinking. Severe cases of impingement need to be treated with corrective surgery for impingement, while mild cases of impingement can be directly plucked or electrolysis of the hair follicles.
