Female hairiness may be due to high androgen and possibly genetic factors.
1. High androgen: The causes of high androgen include polycystic ovary syndrome and adrenal gland diseases such as Cushing’s syndrome.
(1) Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: Patients suffering from Polycystic Ovary Syndrome will secrete too much androgen, which leads to the phenomenon of exuberant hair growth, and may also have symptoms such as irregular menstruation.
(2) Cushing’s syndrome: In patients with Cushing’s syndrome, the adrenal glands secrete too much androgen, leading to hairiness. In addition to hairiness, patients with this disease will also have a full moon face, centripetal obesity, purple lines on the skin and so on.
2. Genetic factors: If the parents are hairy, the chances of their children being hairy will be greatly increased.
If the patient did not have exuberant hair before but now has exuberant hair, it is recommended that the patient go to the hospital as soon as possible for examination.
