Older men should pay attention to medical checkups

From the late President Reagan of the United States, President Mitterrand of France, President Chavez of Venezuela, Mandela, the father of the South African nation; to the surviving stockbroker Warren Buffett, media mogul Murdoch, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, the writer Li Ao; and then to the Singaporean prime minister, Lee Hsien Loong, who has just received an operation; the effect of these celebrities has made prostate cancer well known to the public. Older men should pay close attention to this malignant tumor. 1, the incidence of prostate cancer is increasing year by year Prostate cancer has become the highest incidence of malignant tumors in urology, and it is one of the most important health killers for elderly men. Worldwide, the incidence rate of prostate cancer ranks the 2nd among all malignant tumors in men, and the mortality rate accounts for the 5th. Statistics show that in 2012, the number of new cases of prostate cancer in the world reached 1,111,000, and the number of deaths reached 307,000. in the future, the incidence rate of prostate cancer will increase year by year. In the future, the incidence of prostate cancer will increase year by year. It is expected that in 2030, the annual new cases of prostate cancer will reach 1.7 million and the annual death cases will reach 500,000 worldwide. In the United States, the incidence rate of prostate cancer ranks No. 1, according to the American Cancer Society prediction (data published in Cancer statistics 2015): in 2015, the number of prostate cancer incidence in the whole United States will reach 220,800 cases, accounting for 26% of the incidence rate of all malignant tumors; and in 2015, the whole United States died of prostate cancer will reach 27,540 cases, accounting for 9% of the death cases of all 9% of all malignant tumor deaths. Compared with developed countries such as Europe and the United States, the incidence rate of prostate cancer in China is low, but it is rapidly rising; and the growth is more rapid than that of developed countries in Europe and the United States. In the past 20 years, the incidence rate of prostate cancer in China has increased more than 10 times. According to statistics, during 1988-1994, the annual growth rate of prostate cancer incidence rate in China was 2.1%; while during 1994-2002, the annual growth rate of incidence rate reached 13.4%. Statistics in 2009 showed that the incidence rate of prostate cancer in China’s tumor registration area was 9.92/100,000, which has become the malignant tumor with the highest incidence rate in urology, and ranked 6th in the incidence rate of malignant tumors in men; the incidence rate in urban areas was more than 4 times higher than that in rural areas. The incidence rate in urban areas is more than 4 times higher than that in rural areas. Among them, Shanghai’s incidence rate is the highest in the country, reaching 32.23/100,000; the incidence rates in Beijing and Guangzhou have reached 19.3/100,000 and 17.57/100,000 respectively. Age is a clear risk factor for prostate cancer. Prostate cancer mainly occurs in older men. The incidence rate of prostate cancer increases with age. The median age of newly diagnosed patients is 72 years old and the peak age is 75-79 years old. In the U.S., more than 70% of prostate cancer patients are older than 65 years old; in China, the incidence rate of prostate cancer in men younger than 60 years old is low, and the incidence rate of prostate cancer in men older than 60 years old increases significantly. In China, the incidence rate of prostate cancer in men younger than 60 years old is low, and the incidence rate of prostate cancer in men older than 60 years old has increased significantly. 3. China’s prostate cancer prevention and treatment still has a long way to go. Therefore, the 5-year survival rate of prostate cancer in Europe and America has reached 90%. Although the incidence rate of prostate cancer in China is increasing rapidly, the level of prostate cancer prevention and treatment in China is still relatively low compared with that in developed countries such as Europe and the United States, and early screening and physical examination have not been given enough attention. Early prostate cancer usually has no symptoms, and without regular medical checkups, there is no way to know that it has developed. When prostate cancer enters the advanced stage, symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, hematuria, difficulty in urination, bone pain, etc., it suggests that the cancer has already entered the advanced stage, and the patients often miss the best time for treatment, which is the main reason why the 5-year survival rate of prostate cancer patients in China is less than 50%. Therefore, older men should pay attention to regular medical checkups and pay attention to prostate cancer as a health killer in China. In the next issue, the author will further talk about how to detect prostate cancer early. The author hopes that through the dissemination of health knowledge, it can bring some benefits to our older men.
