What’s with the cracks on the tongue?

Cracks on the tongue are called fissured tongue, and this crack or fissure is not covered by tongue moss, usually with pathologic changes. If there is tongue moss covering the fissures, it is usually congenital fissured tongue. Cracked tongue is mainly caused by deficiency of essence and blood, depletion of yin and fluid, loss of nourishment of the tongue, atrophy of the papillae on the tongue surface, cracking of the tissues, which is a manifestation of malnutrition of the whole body. Tongue color is relatively light and cracked, after blood deficiency. Tongue color is reddish, and there are cracks, it is mostly caused by heat and injury, yin and fluid depletion. In total, having a cracked tongue depends first on whether it is congenital, or acquired. If it is congenital, of course there is no problem. Acquired will follow the previous analysis of tongue color and texture to determine which cause it is composed of, and then later on, according to the different causes of identification and treatment.
