Pharmacological treatment of seizures in patients with brain tumors

Seizures are one of the common symptoms of brain tumors, and there is no clear clinical standard on how to use antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) for these patients. In particular, in patients with glioma, since surgery cannot completely cure the tumor, AEDs are used for a longer period of time. In order to effectively control seizures in brain tumor patients and to use AEDs properly and reasonably, the authors review the latest international research progress on the application of AEDs in brain tumor patients in recent years. Among all the causative factors of epilepsy patients, seizures caused by brain tumor account for 35-60%. The frequency of seizures in patients with brain tumors is at least 30%. In addition to other clinical symptoms caused by tumors, seizures are also a clinical manifestation closely related to the type and location of tumors.
