How pediatric rectal drug administration works

Rectal administration in children can be done either directly using a syringe injection or a syringe attached to a scalp syringe if it is a liquid, or inserted into the anus after sufficient lubrication if it is a solid suppository.
There are a variety of ways to administer medications rectally in children; in the case of rectal retention enemas, the medication can be withdrawn and then the syringe nipple inserted into the anus and the medication slowly injected.
Alternatively, a scalp syringe can be inserted into the anorectum after adequate lubrication, and then an external syringe can be used to slowly inject the medication. Note that when inserted into the rectum, the action must be gentle, insertion of about 5cm can be, to avoid scratching the rectal mucosa.
If the rectal administration is a suppository, use water or oil to fully lubricate the suppository, and then slowly insert it into the anus, be sure to pay attention to the anal sphincter, there will be a sense of emptiness during the operation, otherwise the suppository will be extruded out of the anus.
Pediatric drug use, need to follow the doctor’s instructions, not to do their own medication.
