Hovenia dulcis is a traditional Chinese medicine, for the mature seeds of Hovenia dulcis, a plant of the Hovenia dulcis family. It is sweet in taste and flat in nature. It is used to treat edema and drunkenness caused by excessive alcohol consumption.
Hovenia dulcis is used to treat edema and dysuria caused by water-dampness and stagnation, and can be used in conjunction with Ze Xie Diarrhea and Poria. To cure excessive alcohol consumption, irritable heat (irritability and sultriness) thirst, can be combined with musk into a powder, battered into pills, and served with salt water.
Hovenia dulcis precautions include caution for those with spleen and stomach hypothermia (weak and cold spleen and stomach). Adverse reactions and contraindications are not clear.
