Symptoms of HFMD include fever, rash, poor mental health, lethargy, rapid heart rate, and shortness of breath, etc. The treatment mainly consists of the use of broad-spectrum antiviral drugs as well as symptomatic supportive therapy.
Hand, foot and mouth disease is mainly manifested in the hands, feet, mouth, buttocks and other parts of the skin mucous membrane rash, herpes and other lesions, patients may be accompanied by fever, fatigue, loss of appetite and other symptoms.
In a few patients, the disease progresses rapidly, with symptoms such as poor mental health, lethargy, headache, vomiting, neck stiffness and other neurological symptoms, and even cardiorespiratory failure, which is characterized by tachycardia, shortness of breath, cyanosis (purplish-black color of lips and mouth), abnormal blood pressure, etc., and carries the risk of death.
At present, there is no specific antiviral drug or specific immunoglobulin for HFMD, and now the main early use of broad-spectrum antiviral drugs such as recombinant human interferon alpha and ribavirin, as well as the use of other drugs for symptomatic supportive treatment, such as sodium nitroprusside for elevated blood pressure and dobutamine for lowered blood pressure, which are effective to a certain extent.
