Nine-valent HPV vaccine is a vaccine used to prevent cervical cancer, genital warts and other diseases caused by human papillomavirus infection. Theoretically, men can receive the nine-valent vaccine, but according to the drug insert of the nine-valent HPV vaccine, the vaccine is applicable to the preventive vaccination of females between the ages of 16 and 26 years old, and males are not allowed to receive the vaccination in China. Human papillomavirus, also known clinically as HPV, has many subtypes, and the nine-valent vaccine is the HPV vaccine with the widest coverage of subtypes, preventing 90% of cervical cancers and 90% of genital warts. Men can also be infected with HPV, which may lead to warts, oral cancer, anal cancer and other diseases. In foreign countries as well as Hong Kong and Macao in China, men of the appropriate age group can be vaccinated with the 2-valent and 4-valent HPV vaccines for the prevention of HPV-related cancers, which can also reduce the chances of their partners being infected with HPV. Due to the lack of relevant clinical trial data, HPV vaccination is not recommended for men in mainland China for the time being.
