What are surgical trunks and gastrocolic venous trunks?

The surgical trunk is a segment of the superior mesenteric vein located between the ileocolic vein and the Henle trunk. Because of the proximity of this segment of the superior mesenteric vein to the inferior vena cava and the adequate length (more than 2 cm) and diameter of this segment, it can be used for shunts when portal hypertension is present. Surgical trunk and gastrocolic venous trunk (Henle trunk) First of all, the gastrocolic trunk is noted intraoperatively often with the presence of pancreatic branches. If care is not taken it often brings intraoperative innocent blood loss!
