Cluckers’ fossa refers to the armpits. The darkening of the armpits during pregnancy is usually a normal physiological phenomenon, but it cannot be ruled out that it is a symptomatic manifestation of a certain disease, such as acanthosis nigricans, chronic eczema, etc. If accompanied by other discomforts, it should be consulted in time to find out the cause of the disease.
1. Physiological factors: during pregnancy, due to the estrogen and progesterone in pregnant women’s bodies, the activity of melanocytes in the body can be significantly increased, resulting in darkening of the armpits. In addition, pregnant women’s nipples, areola and other parts of the nipple, there can also be obvious pigmentation, generally normal physiological phenomenon, after pregnancy can gradually fade, disappear.
2. Pathologic factors:
(1) Acanthosis nigricans: this is a rare skin disease, related to endocrine disorders, heredity, obesity and other factors. It occurs in armpits, neck side, breast, groin and other soft skin places, the affected skin color can be light brown or dark brown, the surface is accompanied by small papillary elevations, soft to the touch.
(2) Chronic eczema: If chronic eczema exists in the armpits, the symptoms of hyperpigmentation and darkening may also appear. The affected skin may have papules, scratches and scales, local skin hypertrophy, and the patient may have obvious itching.
The darkening of the armpits during pregnancy, excluding physiological factors, or when itching, pimples and other symptoms, and promptly consult a doctor to clarify the cause of the disease, and if necessary, carry out the appropriate treatment, do not blindly self-medication, so as not to affect the growth and development of the fetus.
