How much high pressure do you need to take antihypertensive medication

Patients with high pressure ≥160mmHg hypertension, some patients with high pressure 140~159mmHg, etc. need to take antihypertensive drugs.
Systolic blood pressure ≥140mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure ≥90mmHg measured 3 times not on the same day can be diagnosed as hypertension. Systolic blood pressure of 140-159mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure of 90-99mmHg is class 1 hypertension; systolic blood pressure of 160-179mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure of 100-109mmHg is class 2 hypertension, and high blood pressure (systolic blood pressure) ≥180mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure of ≥110mmHg is class 3 hypertension.
The main treatment modalities for hypertension are therapeutic lifestyle interventions and taking antihypertensive medications. Therapeutic lifestyle intervention is applicable to all hypertension, including weight reduction, sodium intake reduction, increased exercise, smoking cessation and alcohol restriction.
Grade 2 hypertension and above; hypertension combined with diabetes mellitus, cardio-cerebral and renal target organ damage; and those with poor blood pressure control by lifestyle improvement need to take antihypertensive drugs to lower blood pressure.
High pressure (systolic blood pressure) ≥160mmHg belongs to grade 2 and above hypertension, need to take antihypertensive drugs; high pressure in 140~159mmHg if the diastolic blood pressure <100mmHg belongs to grade 1 hypertension, when at the same time combined with diabetes mellitus, cardiac infarction, and other target organ damage or only lifestyle intervention is ineffective, also need to take medication. It is recommended that patients with hypertension consult a doctor in time, follow the doctor's instructions for treatment, and regularly review their blood pressure.
