How to check your heart

You can self-examine your heart by feeling whether you have heart-related symptoms or not. To determine whether you have heart disease, you need to go to the hospital for relevant examinations, such as electrocardiogram, cardiac ultrasound, cardiac CT, and so on. Common heart-related symptoms include palpitations, chest tightness, chest pain, dyspnea, decreased activity tolerance, edema, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting. If there are no symptoms, it does not mean that the heart is completely normal. In some cases, the heart is already diseased before symptoms appear, so if you have symptoms, please go to the hospital immediately. Electrocardiogram (ECG) can detect abnormal electrical activity of the heart, i.e. arrhythmia or not, and can also observe the electrocardiogram of myocardial infarction or not. Cardiac ultrasound mainly observes the structure of the heart, such as the size of the atria, the thickness of the ventricular wall, whether the valves are normal, and whether the systolic-diastolic function is normal. Cardiac CT, i.e. coronary CT, is mainly to check the condition of coronary artery, such as coronary artery alignment, whether there is myocardial bridge, whether there is stenosis, and the degree of stenosis. It is mostly used to rule out the diagnosis of coronary heart disease. There are also some blood tests for the heart, such as BNP and cardiac enzymes. The former response to heart failure, BNP elevation suggests the possibility of heart failure, the latter response to myocardial infarction, myocardial enzyme elevation suggests the possibility of myocardial infarction. It is not recommended to self-check the heart, it is recommended to visit the hospital and perform the relevant examinations according to the doctor’s recommendations, and problems should be treated according to the doctor’s instructions.
