Acute stage glomerulonephritis should be given a low-salt diet, which is recommended to be less than 3 grams per day. People with normal renal function do not need to restrict protein intake, but in renal insufficiency, protein intake should be strictly limited and based on high-quality animal protein. Protein intake is generally 0.6-0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight per day to meet normal physiological needs, such as milk, eggs, fish, lean meat. Those with marked oliguria should also limit fluid intake. Regardless of the dietary regimen applied, patients must consume sufficient calories, generally 30-50 kcal per kilogram of body weight per day, in order to reduce proteolysis and the consumption of the body’s protein pool.
