Clinical practice revises the diagnosis of gestational diabetes

The American Diabetes Association’s “2011 Clinical Practice Recommendations” have not changed much from the previous version, but focus on the revision of the diagnosis of gestational diabetes: 1) All pregnant women between 24-28 weeks of gestation are required to perform a 2-hour oral glucose tolerance test with 75 grams of glucose, measuring fasting, 1-hour and 2-hour glucose after glucose administration. (2) The division points of blood glucose values are: fasting is greater than or equal to 92mg/dL (5.11mmol/L); 1 hour after taking glucose is greater than or equal to 180mg/dL (10mmol/L); 2 hour blood glucose is greater than or equal to 153mg/dL (8.5mmol/L). (3) Gestational diabetes can be diagnosed when the blood glucose value at any 1 test point is higher than the split point value. (4) Women who have had gestational diabetes should be screened for diabetes at least every 3 years.
