How is the diet of SLE patients managed?

How to eat? It is difficult to answer this question accurately. In Chinese medicine, all “hairy things” are not allowed to be eaten, that is, seafood and hair-forming foods, including leeks and bean sprouts in spring, etc. This statement is also too absolute and will cause patients to miss many opportunities to increase nutrition. On the other hand, from strict scientific evidence, no reliable data can be found to confirm that a certain type of food cannot be eaten. However, in clinical practice, we often find that some patients’ conditions are aggravated by the consumption of certain foods, so it is important to pay attention to dietary contraindications. If, according to the clinical evidence of Chinese medicine, the diet should be chosen according to the deficiency, cold and heat, then there is too much knowledge inside, and people who do not engage in Chinese medicine can not get it, and there is no need. We can follow two principles. First, from the point of view of modern medical metabolism of the body: 1, if there is obvious kidney damage, protein is often lost in large quantities from the urine resulting in hypoproteinemia, edema, causing many pathological changes in the body, so it must be supplemented with adequate protein in a timely manner. Supplemental protein should be mainly animal high-quality protein, such as milk, eggs, lean meat, etc.. The amount of food should be appropriate, no more than 100 grams of lean meat per person per day, no more than 2 eggs, if too much food, the patient not only can not be fully absorbed, but also increase the burden on the kidneys. Plant protein sources, such as tofu, soy milk and other soy products, are actually high-quality proteins and can be used, but they are not as good as animal proteins, so it is better to use animal proteins if protein intake is restricted due to large amount of proteinuria. 2. Patients with lupus erythematosus have impaired energy metabolism, and while hypoproteinemia is formed, some of them also form hyperlipidemia, especially when patients are accompanied by fever, the digestive function is reduced, so it is advisable to eat more light and easily digestible food, and it is not advisable to eat more fat-rich large fish and meat. 3. Patients who infringe on the kidney are mostly accompanied by edema, and when hormone therapy is used alone, it will lead to water and sodium retention, so it is necessary to limit the salt intake of patients and give low-salt diet to avoid aggravation of edema symptoms. 4. Hormone is the drug of choice for the treatment of lupus erythematosus. After long-term use of hormone in lupus erythematosus patients, the glucose metabolism function will be disturbed and diabetes can be formed in severe cases. Therefore, it is very necessary to advocate less high-sugar food and limit sugar intake in patients who use hormones in large quantities for a long time. 5. The pathological basis of lupus erythematosus is systemic vasculitis, at which time the permeability of blood vessels increases and the inflammatory performance of internal organs appears or the phenomenon of Renault appears, so it is necessary to eat more foods containing vitamin C. Long-term use of hormone therapy patients, can cause disorders of calcium and phosphorus metabolism, bone calcium loss, resulting in osteoporosis, severe cases can cause osteonecrosis, so usually in addition to the regular use of calcium supplements, but also should eat more calcium-containing foods. From clinical experience, there are certain foods that can trigger or aggravate lupus disease during the treatment and rehabilitation of lupus erythematosus, as follows: 1. seafood, commonly known as hair products. Some patients with lupus erythematosus are allergic after consuming seafood, and most patients with SLE are hypoallergic, which can easily trigger or aggravate the disease. 2. Mutton, dog meat, venison and cinnamon are warm in nature and can aggravate the internal heat symptoms of patients with lupus erythematosus who show yin deficiency. 3.Cilantro and celery cause photoallergy and aggravate the facial erythema lesions of patients, so they should not be eaten. 4, spicy food, such as chili, raw onion, raw garlic, mushrooms, etc. can aggravate the patient’s internal heat phenomenon, should not be eaten. 5. Smoking and alcohol consumption are absolutely prohibited. Third, the principle of individualization: this is the main thing, someone ate a mushroom, the disease worsened, someone ate a summer seafood is fine. In fact, the food is absorbed into the body, the metabolism of the components can cause immune response, depending on the individual response characteristics, so that there is no uniform guidelines for dietary contraindications. So what to do? Consciously to figure out, do not then eat a variety of foods that may have adverse reactions in a short period of time, which is not easy to observe, such as eating seafood and mushrooms at the same time, if there is an adverse reaction, then who is counted? So be conscious to screen, to identify, to try, so as to figure out the characteristics of the diet suitable for you.
