What is “wind in the eyes”?

Recently, a 20-year-old boy in Wuhan got hooked on online games and often stayed up all night. The day before yesterday, he played until 3:00 a.m. before going home to rest, but he woke up the next morning and became a “one-eyed dragon”. His right eye was black and he couldn’t see anything, and after he was sent to the hospital, he was diagnosed with a blockage of the central retinal artery in his right eye (commonly known as “eye wind”), and it might be difficult to recover his vision. This news also makes many people who like to play computer overnight, quite worried. Once the eye is winded, it is likely that vision will be lost permanently. The central retinal artery blockage is a branch of the carotid artery. When the artery is blocked, the blood circulation is obstructed, resulting in interruption of blood flow, causing the retina to become hypoxic and necrotic due to insufficient blood supply. The longer the blockage, the more severe the damage to vision, and the more difficult it is to regain. There are many causes of “eye strokes”, one of which is the dislodgement of blood clots in the blood vessels and the embolism caused by the central retinal artery, and another cause of “eye strokes” is overexertion or overuse of the eyes, which causes prolonged spasm of the central retinal artery, resulting in vasoconstriction and retinal ischemia. “Stroke in the eye”. ”Eye strain is an acute attack and can occur in one eye or both eyes. During an attack, the patient may experience a sudden loss of vision or loss of vision, but there is little change in the appearance of the eye. “The fundus of the eye will change, and an instrumental examination will reveal gray-white edema in the retina and a typical cherry red spot in the macula.” Once a “wind in the eye” occurs, it can cause retinal damage in a short period of time. If you do not get timely treatment, you will not be able to restore your vision and blindness; if you get timely treatment, your vision will also become very poor, and it is difficult to return to normal levels. The public security officer in his fifties had a “wind in his eyes” for two days after he was overworked and was sent to the doctor in time, but the retinal damage was already serious. This patient is a public security comrade, more than 50 years old, before the onset of a case is being investigated. He was working on the case for two days in a row, without time to rest in between. The whole person has been in a high degree of tension, the eyes also have a certain degree of fatigue, until the case is completed, only less than two hours, the old comrade’s vision suddenly decreased, only a blur to see some shadow movement. Found that something was wrong, he was immediately admitted to the hospital, so to speak, almost without delay. ”At that time, his central retinal artery was not completely blocked, so there was still some residual vision.” Despite timely resuscitation, the comrade’s retina was severely damaged and his vision became so poor that he could not recover. “After the treatment, only the hand waved in front of his eyes and he could still see some.” More and more young patients “eye disease” generally occurs in the middle-aged and elderly people suffering from hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, etc., but now there are more and more young patients, showing a rising trend. ”Work pressure, computers, cell phones look too much these may cause the central retinal artery blockage.” Nowadays, young people have high work pressure, irregular life, staying up late, emotional overexcitement or overwork, and excessive eye use, leading to an increasingly young age of onset. “In addition, people with atrial fibrillation and rheumatic heart disease are also more likely to develop eye strokes.” People with underlying diseases such as hypertension have more fragile blood vessels than the average person, and they have a higher likelihood of embolism, so they should pay particular attention. In addition, for many office white-collar workers, the need for long-term use of the eyes, recommend a simple method: when the eyes appear fatigue or dryness, take a cup and put some chrysanthemum, cassia seeds, wolfberry and other bright things, brewed with forty to fifty degrees of hot water, with the rising steam smoked eyes, to relieve eye fatigue and dry eyes symptoms. “But the key is still to pay attention not to overuse the eyes, and people should not be too fatigued.”
