What causes rib pain in the chest

The causes of rib pain in the chest may be physiological factors, such as overexertion, strenuous exercise, emotional excitement and so on. Excluding physiological factors, it may be related to abnormalities in the surrounding tissues, such as costochondritis, intercostal neuralgia, pneumonia, tumors in the lungs and reflux esophagitis.
