What does liquefaction necrosis mean?

Liquefaction necrosis is a condition in which cellular tissue in an organ or tissue undergoes a process of death in which its cellular tissue transforms into a viscous liquid substance. It is usually associated with local tissue infection by bacteria, viruses, or other harmful microorganisms, and can also manifest as a symptom of internal chemical burns. The phenomenon of liquefaction necrosis occurs mostly in protease-rich local tissues, such as brain tissue, pancreatic tissue, intestinal tissue, etc. The pathological process of liquid necrosis is the formation of local tissue fluid aggregates following pathological injury to the patient. As the disease progresses, the tissue fluid is transformed into purulent material and causes deeper infection of the patient. The local tissues soften and liquefy under the influence of the pus material, leading to necrosis of organs and tissues.
